M & C Series Canister Information (Road)

The entire line of TBR M & C Series canisters feature the same high level of quality construction and are designed to be fully serviceable in the event of damage (replacement parts are available, please call us), routine maintenance or the occasional repack1. Two Brothers Racing's M & C series spring-mounted slip-on canisters all feature their patented and exclusive lightweight thinwall die cast aluminum one-piece inlets and outlets. Their V.A.L.E. (patent pending) slip-on exhaust systems and flange-on systems feature CNC'ed aluminum inlets. These special designs provide for ease of maintenance as well as simplified construction, which is what a premium performance product is all about! The exhaust note produced by all of the TBR Top Level exhaust systems is best described as being deep and throaty without suffering from the shrill whine normally associated with other manufacturer's straight through muffler canisters.

Two Brothers offers three distinct canister shapes to choose from; small oval (C-2, C-7 or M-2), traditional round 4.5 diameter (C4) and large oval (C-5 & M-5). All of the canisters perform and sound the same, they are simply different shapes. They all incorporate TBR's exclusive technology and premium construction material. The different exterior shapes allows you to choose the one that best fits the style of your motorcycle. For instance most people prefer the C-2/M-2 (small oval) with smaller sized motorcycles (like 600cc machines) while others prefer the C5/M5 (large oval) with larger sized motorcycles (like 1000cc machines). For those who prefer round canisters they offer the C4 (round) on select models.

TBR Patented V.A.L.E. Attachment System

V.A.L.E.system is TBR's revolutionary and patented method of attaching the muffler canisters to the exhaust tube without the use of springs or welding. Their V.A.L.E. systems allow the muffler assembly - exhaust tube and canister - to be positioned perfectly on the bike before all the mounting hardware is fully tightened. Once the canister and exhaust tubes are properly aligned, the V.A.L.E. assembly locks the muffler canister to the exhaust tube assuring a perfect, leak-free fit.

Exhaust Canister Materials

Regardless of sleeve material or shape, all of TBR's canisters perform and sound the same. They manufacture their exhaust systems from different materials to allow you to best match the canister to your bike.

Polished/Brushed Aluminum Carbon Fiber Titanium3
Aluminum is a very lightweight and strong material used extensively in the aerospace, automotive, and of course, motorcycle industries. Aluminum is a wise choice due to its excellent strength to weight ratio, corrosion resistance, and clean look. Two Brothers use lightweight thin-wall .060" extruded 6061 aluminum alloy that is heat treated to a T-6 condition for increased strength, durability, hardness, and finish hold. After the aluminum has been heat treated, it is cut to length and given a brushed satin finish. Ounce for ounce aluminum is the best value of all of TBR's M & C Series mufflers. As a rule the aluminum mufflers weigh about 8.3oz. more than Titanium or Carbon Fiber mufflers. Two Brothers Racing has been using Carbon Fiber in motorcycle mufflers since 1992. They are currently the only US Company to exclusively use Filament Wound Carbon Fiber (FWCF) on every carbon fiber muffler they sell. They draw on only the best high temperature resins, and control a proprietary lining system adopted from spacecraft, for additional heat resistance. Their FWCF is continuously wound over a precision machined mandrel for a 100% seamless bond. The FWCF tube is then cured in a high temperature autoclave oven for superior strength and heat resistance. These crucial elements meld to form a precision lightweight muffler that will perform as well as it looks. By weight titanium is one of the worlds strongest readily available metals, making it ideal for TBR's M & C series mufflers. It is 45% lighter than steel with comparable strength, and twice as strong as aluminum while being only 60% heavier. Thats right titanium is HEAVIER than aluminum, but since it is twice as strong Two Bros are able to use very thin (.024") material to construct their Titanium muffler. The result is a muffler that is about 8.3oz. lighter than the M or C series aluminum mufflers. Titanium has become an industry standard for motorcycle mufflers due to its durability, corrosion resistance, lightweight, and factory look.

Exhaust System Types

Slip-on Systems Flange-On Exhaust Systems Full Systems

This type of system replaces your existing "s-bend" pipe and exhaust canister. TBR's s-bends are manufactured from .035" thin wall stainless steel. They then polish them to a mirror finish. They use only #304 stainless which will never rust.

After a few heat cycles the steel turns a golden amber color which is the characteristic signature of high quality stainless steel.

These systems not only add horsepower but also can drop significant weight from your bike. This type of canister can be mounted in the original canister position or in a "high" mounted canister position depending on the bike and the available applications.

This canister bolts to your existing exhaust system directly replacing your stock muffler. You retain your original headers and "s-bend pipe. This configuration not only adds horsepower but also can drop significant weight from your bike.

Reinstallation of the stock muffler, should the need ever arise, is very simple. This type of canister can only be mounted in the original canister position regardless of the bike.

This system completely replaces your existing exhaust system. This not only adds horsepower but also can drop significant weight from your bike. TBR build their header systems as a complete unit.

Their finished system flows better at the collectors, makes more power and does not vibrate on the bike.

Their superbike stainless steel headers are manufactured from .035" thin wall stainless steel. They then polish them to a mirror finish2. The ductile quality of stainless steel makes it possible to produce extremely light and strong headers. TBR uses only premium #304 stainless which will never rust and after a few heat cycles will turn a golden amber color which is the characteristic signature of high quality stainless steel. This type of canister can be mounted in the original position or in a "high" mounted position depending on the bike and the available applications.

TBR's chrome plated steel headers (available on select bike models) are manufactured from .049" lightweight structural steel tubing which has been polished, nickel plated and then chrome plated to the highest SAE J207 standard. All joints are MIG welded for strength and unparalleled style.

1Repack intervals vary depending upon riding conditions and type of bike.

2Stainless steel headers for some fully faired bikes will feature TBR's mill finish (unpolished) stainless steel headpipes but will have a highly polished stainless steel "s-bend connector pipe.

3Titanium canisters may shift color when exposed to elevated temperatures. This shift in color may occur at different rates resulting in color gradations ranging from blue, purple, red and even gold in some instances.
